Remarks | Conformal Authagraph-Like Map. A special arrangement of Lee’s Conformal Tetrahedric Projection. See my blogpost Lee, Markley, CALM & Grieger. |
IMAGO is an acronym – Infinitesimal Mutated AuthaGraph Offspring. Justin Kunimune’s 2017 reproduction of the AuthaGraph map, which was developed by Hajime Narukawa in 1999. The formulae of the original have not been published so Kunimune tried to figure out the math. However, there are considerable differences, so in my opinion, you can’t call it an approximation. Therefore, I came up with the name Kunimune’s Mutated AuthaGraph Offspring or MAGO for short. The name was extended to IMAGO and officially adpoted. More information in my blog. |
recommended comparisons | Kunimune’s IMAGO | CALM |
This pairing is among the list of recommended pairings – but why? CALM is using the same arrangement as IMAGO, but while CALM is conformal, IMAGE is a compromise projection with comparatively low areal inflations. |
Remark: On these two projections, »scaled to fit« and »scaled to same width« will be quite identical!
